Find out moreWhy IV Iron
Tablets are hard to absorb and harder to tolerate. IV iron delivers iron directly into your bloodstream, 100% bioavailable, with no gut side effects.

Who we treat
We treat patients across London and the South East with conditions that cause or worsen iron deficiency.
The most common nutritional deficiency in the UK, causing fatigue, breathlessness, and poor concentration. IV iron restores levels rapidly when oral supplements have failed or are not tolerated.
Iron demands increase significantly during pregnancy and are further depleted by childbirth. We safely treat expectant mothers and those recovering postpartum when oral iron is insufficient.
Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis impair iron absorption from the gut. IV iron bypasses this entirely, delivering reliable results where tablets simply cannot reach.
Elite and recreational athletes are particularly prone to iron depletion through high training loads. We help restore peak energy, endurance, and recovery safely and quickly.
The Process
Here’s exactly what to expect from your first contact to feeling better.
Book online or by phone. A doctor reviews your blood results, symptoms and medical history to confirm suitability for IV iron.
We work with your existing results or can arrange an iron panel at our clinic. We review ferritin, haemoglobin, and transferrin saturation.
Seated comfortably, our doctor administers your Ferinject infusion. Most patients are in and out in around 60 minutes including observation.
A review and repeat blood test at 6–8 weeks confirms your levels have been restored. Available in person or online.

What our patients say
I'd been exhausted for two years. Within three weeks of my infusion I felt like a completely different person. The team were incredibly professional and reassuring.
After my second pregnancy I was severely anaemic. Oral iron made me so nauseous I couldn't continue. This was genuinely life-changing.
As someone with Crohn's, oral iron was never going to work. The doctors here understood that immediately. First class from start to finish.
Booked within two days, seen the same week. The whole process was smooth and comfortable. The results speak for themselves.
My GP kept saying my bloods were 'borderline normal' but I felt awful. The doctors here actually listened, the difference has been remarkable.

FAQ
Everything you need to know before booking your appointment.
About the Treatment
An IV iron infusion delivers iron directly into your bloodstream through a small vein in your arm, bypassing the digestive system entirely. This allows your body to absorb iron rapidly and effectively, restoring your levels far more reliably than tablets. It is a well-established treatment used routinely across NHS and private hospitals worldwide.
A small cannula is placed into a vein in your arm, similar to a routine blood test. Most patients describe this as mildly uncomfortable for a few seconds. Once the cannula is in place, the infusion itself is entirely painless and you can relax, read, or use your phone throughout.
The infusion itself takes approximately 30 minutes. We then ask you to remain with us for a short observation period afterwards. In total, please allow around one hour for your visit.
For the majority of patients, yes. A single Ferinject infusion can deliver up to 1,000mg of iron in one session, sufficient to restore depleted stores in most cases. We review your follow-up bloods at 6–8 weeks and only recommend further treatment if your results indicate this is clinically needed.
Before Your Appointment
No referral is required. You can book directly with us. You will need recent blood test results showing iron deficiency, either from your GP or arranged through our clinic. Our doctors will review all results before proceeding with any treatment.
Possibly, yes. Standard blood tests can sometimes miss a functional iron deficiency, particularly when ferritin sits at the lower end of the normal range, or when inflammation is masking a true deficit. Our doctors assess your full iron profile alongside your symptoms. Many patients told their results were “normal” have benefited significantly from treatment.
Yes. Plant-based iron (non-haem iron) is absorbed significantly less efficiently by the body than iron from meat. Vegetarians and vegans, particularly women, have a meaningfully higher risk of iron deficiency. If you follow a plant-based diet and feel persistently tired, it is worth having your ferritin levels checked.
After Your Infusion
Some patients notice an improvement within a few days. For others, the benefit builds gradually over several weeks as iron stores are replenished. Blood tests at 6-8 weeks will demonstrate a clear, measurable improvement in your iron and haemoglobin levels.
We strongly recommend a review and repeat blood test at 6–8 weeks. This confirms the treatment has worked as expected and allows us to identify any patients who may benefit from further iron. Follow-up appointments are available in person or online, whichever suits you best.
With your consent, we send your GP a discharge summary detailing your consultation, treatment, and results. If you prefer we do not contact your GP, simply let us know and we will respect that entirely.
Practicalities
Many private insurers cover IV iron infusions where there is a clear clinical indication. We recommend contacting your insurer before booking to confirm your level of cover. We provide all necessary clinical documentation and invoices to support your claim.
Consultations and blood tests are paid in full at the time of booking. For infusion appointments, a £150 deposit is required to secure your slot. Cancellations made more than 48 hours in advance are fully refundable. Cancellations within 24–48 hours incur a £50 fee. Cancellations within 24 hours or non-attendance are non-refundable.
